School Lunch

The school offers a two course menu with a choice of main meal, either a starter and a main course, or a main course and a dessert. The menu runs on a three week cycle, so that there is plenty of choice for pupils. Fruit and yoghurt will be available daily as a dessert option. Water, and a selection of bread and salad are also provided every day.

The current cost for a Primary school meal is £2.30.

From 5 January 2015, all pupils in Primary 1-3 will be entitled to a free school meal, however with effect from April 2018 there is a charge of 10p for any child who wishes milk. Parents do not have to register for this; all P1-3 pupils will receive this meal automatically.

All menus, in Argyll & Bute Schools, comply with the Scottish Government's Schools (Health Promotion and Nutrition) (Scotland) Act 2007 and with Nutritional Requirements for Food and Drink in Schools (Scotland) Regulations 2008.

The Primary school menu is revised twice per year, typically in October and in March. The menu is designed largely by pupils, through consultation with them. Argyll and Bute Council runs a programme of Pupil Focus Groups, to ensure that  pupils are able to contribute to the menu's development, and it also gives them an understanding of having a balanced choice. Teaching staff, catering staff, NHS Dietetics department and parents have also contributed to its development.
