Head Teacher Welcome

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Sandbank Primary School website. Sandbank Primary and ELC is situated on the Cowal Peninsula in Argyll, on the shores of The Holy Loch. Our school makes good use of the rich local environment of woodland, mountain and seashore. Our grounds have been developed to promote outdoor, active learning in our beautiful surroundings.

At Sandbank, we provide both English and Gaelic medium education, from pre-5 through to Primary 7. Our two Gaelic classes currently comprise of a P2-5 and P6-7, whilst our 3 English classes comprise of a P1-3, P4-5 and P6-7. Our ELCs provide an excellent start for our pupils.

Since taking up the post of Head Teacher at Sandbank Primary School, I have been overwhelmed by the desire and support of our staff team, pupils and parents alike as we aim to ensure only the very best educational experiences and outcomes for our children, coupled with our ambition to reach our full potential as a whole school community.

At Sandbank Primary, we pride ourselves on being open, welcoming and approachable. Every child is encouraged to develop their potential through a balanced curriculum and a variety of learning experiences in a nurturing, inclusive and stimulating learning environment. Hence, I would fully encourage you to come and visit our school. Whilst our website provides a nice flavour for what we can offer, I would be extremely pleased to welcome you in person in order to share our vision for the school and our children in much more detail.

Yours sincerely,

Norman MacDonald, Head Teacher
